Drabble: Born in Fire
Title: Born in Fire
Author: il-mio-capitano
Prompt: Fire
It had taken three months hard toil in the forge learning to heat, fold, hammer, polish and above all, bite his tongue as the master bladesmith savagely rejected piece after piece of Giles’ labour. But now the man balanced the sword thoughtfully on a fingertip.
“This blade is suitable for a warrior, Englishman. I did not believe you capable of such skill, but you have learnt well. I trust your Slayer will give it a worthy name.”
Giles watched with pride that night as Buffy gracefully sliced two demons and decapitated three vampires with his gift.
"Yay for Mr Stabby!”

And I love the suggestion of how much effort Giles puts in to support Buffy's work. Very nicely done.

And Buffy found the perfect name for it! LOL How I adore our Slayer! Adore our Watcher too, but in a much different way. ;)
Very nice!

Re: Here from buffyversetop5
It's easy to forget that Buffy didn't name her stake, Kendra did; and Buffy's reaction was "You named your stake?" Poor Kendra...

Re: Here from buffyversetop5
I love your Buffy and Giles tremendously (because your characterizations are so spot-on with how I SEE THEM, of course *ahem*), and one thing I particularly like is that you don't sell Buffy's intelligence short, unlike a lot of fandom (or the comics *gets stabby*).
