I think they both need to take the time to get away and leave some responsibility behind them before deciding what to do next. Buffy recognised it. Giles subconsciously did when he booked the flight to Mallorca. In my head they rent a villa there for a month or so to decompress before moving on to whatever is next, whether that is travelling the world or starting to organise the network of Slayers or whatever. :)
