Giles gathered the post before crossing the threshold and tossed his keys onto the side table. Closing the door behind him, he rifled through the stack of papers, lamenting the fact that he hadn’t heard from his globetrotting Slayer yet. He’d already received greetings from the rest of the gang.

As he set down the bundle, he noticed a muted glow from the lounge and, not remembering having left a light on that morning, cautiously made his way to investigate.

Finding Buffy standing before a newly decorated tree, a smile spread across his lips.

“Merry Christmas, Giles,” she said softly.
