Weekly Prompt for the Giles's Record Collection Theme

Hello, everyone! First, I would like to say thank you to [personal profile] littleotter73 for the lovely introduction and a great big thank you of my own to [personal profile] il_mio_capitano for her dedication to the community and providing such a welcoming environment for "newbies to the fandom". May Otter and I uphold your shinning legacy!

So, as you hopefully know, this month's theme is Giles's Record Collection. You are free to take that wherever the Muse leads you, but if she's gone silent on you, we'll offer a weekly set of prompts. This week's is:

CREAM and/or ERIC CLAPTON

Our own[personal profile] littleotter73 has created some lovely fanart as a supplement. (I would also like to express my full appreciation for her mad art skills!)

We know from canon that Giles has at least one Cream album in his collection. It stands to reason he'd have some Clapton too. These records don't have to appear in your fic directly. They can just be the inspiration. If that's not enough to get you going, we offer additional prompts of Cream and Eric Clapton song titles:

Strange Brew
My Father's Eyes
It's in the Way That You Use It

As Cap would say, drabbles or ficlets of any length are most welcome. Take these prompts wherever you see fit, including any pairings and characters that you please. Just as long as Giles is in the mix somewhere, of course!

Happy writing and see you next week!

Return of Giles Shorts!

We're back after our two months break. I hope everyone enjoyed the epic [community profile] summer_of_giles this year. Please remember to drop a few kind words on the entries over there. It can really brighten someone's day.

Shorts is up and running with a monthly theme for August of SUMMER. Anything 'summer' related is welcome and there will be weekly prompts to shake loose ideas. We accept short fic involving Giles here and at happy to take pimping links to longer works as well. The purpose of the comm is to encourage new writing and have a little fun. Pretty much anything goes!

This weeks prompt (which you are welcome to ignore and write your own thing) is: Cooling Down
Entry tags:

Weekly prompt: Sunshine

Final prompt before the comm's summer hiatus.
SUNSHINE

Weekly prompt: Race Against Time

It's Friday so I'm throwing out a new weekly prompt.  Aptly, I think.
RACE AGAINST TIME

Entry tags:

Weekly prompt: Talking Shop

I'm slipping the prompts to Fridays until June when we take our summer break. Sign-ups are looking healthy and there are still available dates over at [community profile] summer_of_giles by the by!

This week's prompt: Talking Shop
Entry tags:

Weekly prompt: Enquire Within

New prompt for this week: Enquire Within. Do with it as you wish...

Quick reminder, this is an 'anything is welcome' sort of place. You are free to use any prompts from whenever or to post something completely fresh. You can post here or merely post a link to your own dw, ff, LJ, ao3, Wordpress, blog, wherever. There really isn't a restriction on wordcount. I'm happy to accept any length if the muse posessed you. The only rule is to have Giles in the mix, but he doesn't have to be the Big Damn Hero or main focus. It's all about writing and sharing here.

Weekly prompt: Something to sign for

New prompt for this week. We shall continue through to the end of May and take our annual break for June and July. (I won't be offended if any of these prompts are used for [community profile] summer_of_giles  instead of course.)

This week's prompt is: Something to sign for
Entry tags:

Weekly prompt: Undercover

New week, new challenge. Ficlets or drabbles please prompted by:

UNDERCOVER

Take that any way you will. :)

Entry tags:

Weekly prompt: Getting On

New week, new weekly prompt. Fics or drabbles of any length welcome taking inspiration from the prompt of:

GETTING ON

Giles in the mix somehow, though he can be pretty slight. All previous prompts remain 'open' - we are not a strict comm - it's all about writing and encouraging everyone to experiment.

Entry tags:

New prompt: Marathon

As promised, there will be weekly prompts from now until end of May. Fics or drabbles of any length welcome taking inspiration from the prompt of:

MARATHON

Giles is the mix somehow, though he can be pretty slight. All previous prompts remain 'open' by the way. This is a comm that welcomes writing and encourages everyone to experiment.

Weekly prompt: Fool

My thanks to everyone who played and had some fun last month with last line first line challenge. I even managed a few myself - wonders will never cease. From today until the end of May, we are returning to weekly prompts at which point the mighty [livejournal.com profile] summer_of_giles takes over for two months.

Ficlets or drabbles or any length welcome. This week's prompt is: FOOL

More prompty ideas

I'm a little late, so forgive me. Shakespeare is our monthly theme so anything plot stealing from the bard is welcome. Drables, ficlets, poems, stage directions....anything is welcome. The only rule is Giles must be in the mix, but it can be ever so slight. Below are some quotes that might inspire thinky thoughts.

For some must watch, while some must sleep

You take my life when you take the means whereby I live

'Tis an ill cook that cannot lick his own fingers

Have at it!

More Shakespeare prompts

Continuing with our Shakepeare theme, drabbles and ficlets are welcome on all things Bard. Some extra lines as prompts:
A pound of flesh.

Exit, pursued by a bear.

You have witchcraft in your lips.

Or, as always, you are free to follow your own muse. Lay on, Macduff!

New year, new theme, new prompts

I've been away far too long due to bereavement and other crap, but let's see if we can start 2017 a little better.

From now to the end of February, I declare our theme for ideas to be:

Brush Up Your Shakespeare

Drabbles, ficlets (or sonnets if you really want to), the idea is to draw inspriation from all things vaguely to do with Shakespeare. Each week I will throw out some prompt ideas but you are free to use or ignore as you see fit. Week 1:--->

This above all: to thine own self be true.

It is a wise father than knows his own child.

Beware the green-eyed monster.

Additional prompts:

A pound of flesh

Exit, pursued by a bear

You have witchcraft in your lips

Third set of prompts:

For some must watch, while some must sleep

You take my life when you take the means whereby I live

'Tis an ill cook that cannot lick his own fingers

Probably bonus points for writing an actual monster with green eyes or for anything that involves Giles in tights.

New locations prompt

For our final prompt of the month I'm in the mood for some travelling. Therefore pick from:

Sunnydale bus depot
Sunnydale train station
Sunnydale airport
Sunnydale docks

For a one horse town, Sunnydale appears to be a major transportational hub for Sourthern California.

New prompt for location

This week's prompty location is:

A Magick Shop.

Doesn't have to be the Box, could be anytime, any place.
Entry tags:

Locations prompt: Giles' bathroom

New week, new prompt on our theme of locations. Not that any prompts technically ever close, if you fall for a previous suggestion, do it!

New prompt is Giles' bathroom.

Which could be anytime, anywhere. As always, any length, any ship, any rating, all are welcome.

April theme: Locations

New month, new theme. For April our theme will be all about Locations.

I will suggest a location once a week (or maybe twice if the fancy takes me), and the challenge is to write a small ficlet or drabble based there. Bonus points for a continuous story I guess, but as usual, it's Open House here. Pick any prompt in any order, combine them, skip them, whatever them, we are a safe haven comm that lives for having fun and experimenting with writing. Anything goes so long as Giles is in the mix (even if we have to squint a bit).

Opening location of the month: The Sunnydale Museum
