Drabble: Auspicious Beginnings

It was time for last orders. He stood and fumbled in his jeans pocket for a pound note.
“My round,” he mumbled but his new friend put a hand on his arm and sat him down again.
“No, I’ll get them in.”
“VerykindofyouI’msure,” Rupert slurred.
Two pints and whisky chasers appeared in front of him almost immediately. “As if by magic!” he solemnly declared. “Cheers!” Rupert felt a childish need to show off and drained his glass.
“Not exactly by magic, dear boy. Although you do seem to have made that disappear rather quickly. Do you have any other talents?”
