Spike mustered all his soul into an expression of contempt.

"Don't be a plonker, Rupert. This requires the good stuff. Break out the single malt. My heart is literally in pieces on your floor here, mate."

"Well not 'literally' literally," Giles muttered to himself. Some men were cursed with many burdens, his was having to listen to every Buffy break-up story.

"You've got to speak to speak to her, Rupes. I've written something down for you."

Giles narrowed his eyes at the paper.

"Are these rhyming couplets?"

"Would that be a problem?"

Oh this was brilliant! At first I thought that Spike wanted Giles to give her the poem... but he wants him to recite it, doesn't he! I would love to see Buffy's reaction to that!

I'm trying to imagine scenarios that Giles would even be in a situation where he was forced to offer Spike tea and unwilling sympathy after a post-Spike/Buffy break up. A Season 4/5 AU, maybe, but sometime post-series is the most intriguing. Especially with the direction things might go if Giles really does deliver the poem!

I think I was picturing a post season 7 world where everyone is just used to Spike and Buffy's off/on relationship.
