TGIF and we have a new prompt to play with! The leaves are beginning to change here and the air is crisp, the evenings come sooner and the nights are lasting longer. It's my favourite season of the year and I feel inspired, so this week's prompt is:

Drabble: His Choice Made

"Would you like something to drink, sir?"

Giles considered the question with an almost childish desire to drink the plane dry. There had been no hugs and goodbyes this time. Buffy knew his departure time well enough but had stayed away, daring him to go through with it.

And he had. He had destroyed the one precious relationship of his life. If she survived and managed to grow stronger without him, she would never rely on him again.  With a bitter laugh he finally thought he understood the point of the Cruciamentum.

"Sir?"

And that sobering thought deserved a drink.
