He still wakes at night, drenched in sweat, screams clogged in his throat. He runs to his bathroom mirror and checks, with trembling hands, for any sign of the Demon within. There is never any save the memories that haunt him -- memories of being a spawn rejected from Hell itself and his best friend being so determined to kill him.
He wants to scream. He wants to cry. He wants to get sodding drunk. But instead, he simply turns on his water and prepares for the coming day and the few innocents he can still save, all the time wondering how much of the Demon is left within him and knowing he harmed more innocents as the Ripper than he ever did as a Demon. He knows who the true Demon is and fights every moment of every day to put all the memories far behind him, all the while knowing he never will.
