“You’re on your own now, Buff,” she muttered, watching the new Slayers scatter towards their hotel rooms. It wasn’t as if she wanted to hang out with them, their youthful exuberance and general excitement after defeating the First was understandable, but she was tired, injured, and to be honest, she was was on the verge of collapse.

 

Giles spoke softly as he emerged from the shadows. “I wouldn’t say that.”

 

“Mission’s done, you can go home again,” she sighed.

 

“Now where’s the fun in that?” he asked, his eyes sparkling. “The way I see it, our mission’s only just begun.”
