Rupert Giles is no stranger to pride. Although his parents gave him little reason for pride and always belittled his achievements, Rupert always took pride in his conquests growing up, regardless of rather it was snagging the girl or writing a rocking song. He's always been proud of his own achievements, but he's never been proud of another until now.

He smiles down at Buffy, feeling pride, hope, and something else he can not yet name swell within him. "Well done." Finally, he realizes having pride in others and not just oneself is perhaps the best feeling in the world.

Nice. I like the shift from selfish pride to recognising the value of others. He doesn't try to see her as his achievement. She's awesome regardless.
