Spooky Giles Fic Recommendation!!

 So, in celebration littleotter73  and I wanted to put together a recommendation list of scary Giles fics.... But when we sat down to think about it, we realized that all of our favorites were written by our very own il_mio_capitano. So, turn the lights down, curl up with a warm beverage and let Cap tell you a spooky story.


1. Absent Friends
"Giles joins Ethan on a pub crawl to commemorate their dead friends from Eyghon days. One by one, their dead friends start to join them."


2. Watchers End
"Season 6 in London. Giles is reluctantly down in the tube station at midnight. This should end well."


3. Rupert Giles vs the Headless Horseman
"A little something for Halloween. Giles goes looking for Buffy between seasons 2&3. He finds someone else instead. NB this is not a Sleepy Hollow crossover. I haven't seen that show. Instead it draws inspiration from original Washington Irving story."  


4. Vampyre!
"An encounter with a vampire means Giles' first Halloween in the Magic Box goes from bad to worse. With Spike trying to teach him and Buffy trying to slay him, he finds himself caught up in a crazy quest before the sun rises." 


5. Venus Flytrap
Short and creepy and written specifically for this community! "Written for the prompt of Trapped as part of Giles Shorts collection. Giles really should know better than to wander off on his own...."


6. Monster
"Set after Chosen. Giles has disappeared from the group and could be a threat. Buffy isn't sure how much she wants to deal with that problem when they meet up unexpectedly in Europe, but are there are other supernatural forces at play?"

A note about This is the first part of Cap's series of the same name. It may be set a Christmas instead of Halloween, but this is perfect for those of you wanting to get into something longer. Fair warning, you are going to want to read the rest when you finish Part 1.  You can also find the whole thing here on FF.net.

“Do you really think all this refined sugar is necessary?” Buffy called from the kitchen staring in awe at the cauldron of candy Giles had put together. “I mean, honestly, how many British kids are going to come knock on your door for trick or treating?”

 

“I posted signs around the neighbourhood last week,” Giles assured her confidently, entering the room decked out in full Ziggy Stardust costume. The door bell rang and he picked up the cauldron, looking triumphant. “Besides, all children love sweets and dressing up.”

 

Buffy shook her head in amusement. “Not just the children…” she muttered.

After the last of the candy had been handed out, Buffy flopped down on the sofa next to Giles.

 

“Thank you for staying and helping out,” he said, resting his feet on the table before them. “You didn’t have to.”

 

“It was fun,” she answered, placing a Hershey’s Kiss into his palm.

 

He looked down in surprise at the silver foil covered confection with its jaunty paper flag.

 

“I don’t recall having bought these.”

 

“You didn’t.” Glancing up at him, she blushed. “Trick or treat?”

 

The invitation wasn’t lost on him. “Treat,” he murmured.

 

She  rose up and kissed him.

It was a few days after Joyce's funeral, and Willow was desperately throwing herself back into her normal routine, hoping that it would help her to forget the desperate grief that she still felt at Joyce's sudden death. And, while it wasn't the escape she had been hoping for, she found that between Tara's support and her class schedule, she was at least coping. She had just gotten back from the last of her classes, and had decided to go through the mail that had built up since that terrible day before meeting up with Tara and the others at the Magic Box. Luckily, being an unemployed college student, there wasn't much to sort through, just the usual junk mail, and a rare letter form her parents.
