He stands alone as dusk settles and the veils draw apart. He can practically feel time ticking away as he stands and waits at her grave. Samhain passes, and the sun rises again without his Buffy returning to him. He sighs deeply, hands shoved into his tweed pockets, and turns, his mind still wrapped on time.

There's never enough time, Rupert knows. There wasn't enough time to train her right. There wasn't enough time to get proper help. There wasn't enough time to save her. A tear slips down his aged face. There wasn't time to say "I love you".
