New York has Giles in an alternate dimension for about 16 years in Xander's timeline but only a few months in Rupert's timeline so they are closer in age. It's a long story - 47 chapters - but is very well written and entertaining. Xander as a Dad is delightful. Here's the summary: Xander is thirty-seven. Divorced. Two kids. 4000 miles from Sunnydale and his Hellmouth childhood. Also, straight. Only someone forgot to tell Giles. In fact... where the hell is Giles?

Wow. Honest to god, I was thinking about reccing this one myself earlier in the week. It's an awesome fic that I enjoyed immensely a couple of summers back. Xander is just brilliant. It's actually thrilling when Buffy shows up briefly. Rats in tiaras! I've put people off with that last one, but honestly, it's not the be all and end all of the story. The heart of it a much older Xander who has left demon slaying and Buffy behind to have an ordinary life and raise a couple of kids. Giles drops back in his life having been trapped in a demon dimension and not appearing a day older. Xander is sorta pleased, but knows damn well that bad stuff follows Giles around, and with daughters to protect, he's wary of mixing his lives.

Great fun, great writing.

Wow, you describe it really well!

Yeah, the rats in tiaras was a bit odd but that's way off in the end. I adore Xander's relationship with his daughters. It's also so sweet how Giles moves himself to New York because he thinks he and Xander have an attraction going but Xander is, at first, completely clueless. Squidlove does a great job bringing the two of them together.
