I love Spike telling Giles his lamp was a reproduction, both because he would know and because he'd have absolutely no compunction against lying about it. Now, as for the chip not firing... I can imagine but one explanation. Clearly Giles wanted to roll around on the floor with Spike. The crisps were just the enticement. ;-)
