Setting: After Grave before season 7

Her eyes said it all. He tried not to dwell on it. They both knew what had to be done, knew what they wanted didn't matter in that moment. He needed to secure Willow at the coven and place her on the road to recovery and atonement. But the bond he shared with his Slayer tugged at his soul. He'd been wrong to leave. His place was by her side.
But it would have to wait.
"No matter the outcome," Buffy began, with a quick glance at Willow. "Come home."
He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I promise."
