He'd lost his resolve before but never with such humiliating consequences.
"Giles, you promised me you'd try this. You said, quite clearly, in front of witnesses that you would agree to anything I asked for my birthday."
He looked horror-stricken at Buffy.
"But you can't hold me to that promise. I thought you just wanted to go to the mall. This requires intimacy and equipment."
"You're already wearing the harness. Nothing will go wrong."
"But it's pinching."
The safety guy on the bridge gestured them forward.
"Ok, next couple. Your turn to jump."
"Dear Lord." Giles closed his eyes.
